If the fan theory machine churning at full blast is any indication, WandaVision—Marvel’s first serialized foray into the uncharted waters of streaming—is a massive hit. The show siphons the best parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (the adventure, the powers, the Easter eggs) and blends them with the completely original element of all-American sitcoms. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany play a Wanda Maximoff and Vision we haven’t seen before, a suburban couple who specialize in neighborhood talent shows and diaper changing rather than intergalactic warfare. They’re Dick Van Dyke-ified, Full House-ified, charming and happy and almost certainly brainwashed, though by Wanda herself or another big bad remains unclear.
