CHENNAI: The Chennai Snake Park is celebrating the wildlife week this year with a series of attractive online events.
These events comprehensively portray the knowledge on the Indian fauna, ranging from elephants to insects, and the main focal animal group – the reptiles.
The curtain raiser of the programme on Saturday saw a workshop on environment filmmaking and photography. S Paulraj, executive chairman of the park, spoke about ‘Biomimicry and its impact on human lifestyle.’
On Sunday (October 4), V Kalaiarasan will deliver a talk on ‘Ecological roles of snakes in our environment’ (at 4 pm).
On Monday (October 5) S R Ganesh, deputy director of the park will deliver a talk on ‘Recent trends in herpetological research in India’ (at 10 am).
On Tuesday (October 6) K A Subramanian, a trustee of the park, will talk about ‘Insects and our ecosystems’ (at 4 pm).
On October 7, C Arivazhagan will talk about ‘Elephants in India: current scenario’ (at 4 pm).
On October 8, Thirunavukkarasu of CPREEC will talk about ‘Importance of wildlife education’ (at 4 pm).
On October 9, K Senthil Kumar will talk on the subject ‘Veterinary science and Wildlife conservation’ (at 4 pm).
The webinars will be conducted on Zoom.
