MADURAI: People who wait for the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu to split would be disappointed, said minister for information and field publicity Kadambur C Raju on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters at Kovilpatti in Tuticorin district, Raju said the AIADMK was functioning in the same manner as late chief minister J Jayalalithaa had run it and following the rules laid down by her.
“The AIADMK has a history of being a party that was twice divided but emerged victorious and retrieved its symbol. Hence anyone dreaming of another breakup in the party would only be disappointed as the party is intact with its 1.5 crore members. The fact that they were members of this great party is enough for each of them,” he said.
Both the chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam were experienced and had learnt under the leadership of Jayalalithaa and MGR, he added.
The decision of the executive committee about the CM candidate would be announced on October 7, he said adding that Jayalalithaa’s rule would be established in the state again.
“The AIADMK is not like the DMK which conducts its executive committee meetings virtually. The AIADMK conducts its meeting with discussions for over four hours and takes decisions,” he said.
