PUDUCHERRY: The Union Public Service Commission will hold the all India civil services (preliminary) examination 2020 at eight venues in Puducherry on October 4. The examination will be held both in the forenoon session (9.30am to 11.30am) and in the afternoon session (2.30pm to 4.30pm).
A total of 2,913 candidates have chosen Puducherry as their centre. The commission has declared that the entry into the examination venue will be closed 10 minutes before the scheduled time of commencement of the examination — 9.20am for the forenoon session and 2.20pm for the afternoon session.
No candidate will be allowed entry into the examination venue after the closure of the entry. Further, the candidate would not be allowed to appear at any other venue except the venue mentioned in the e-admit card, said under-secretary (personnel and administrative reforms) V Jaisankar.
The candidates must bring the e-admit card (printout) along with the original photo identity card whose number is mentioned in the e-admit card in each session to secure admission to the examination hall.
The commission has set up a control room at its New Delhi office. The control room with telephone numbers 011-23381131 / 011-23070049 and fax number 011-23384472 will function from 8am to 8pm on Saturday and with telephone number 011-23382627 and fax number 011-23384472 from 5.30am to 8pm on October 4. Another control room has been set up in the chamber of the director of school education at Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Educational Complex with telephone numbers 0413-2207201 / 2207202 and fax number 0413-2205930. This will function from 8am to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday to clarify the arrangements of the examinations.
Candidates without mask/face cover will not be allowed entry into the venue. Candidates, however, will have to remove their masks for verification whenever required by the examination functionaries. Candidates may carry hand sanitizer (small size) in a transparent bottle. Candidates must follow Covid-19 norms of social distancing as well as personal hygiene inside the examination halls/rooms and in the premises of the venue.
The Puducherry administration has made arrangements for operating special buses to the examination venues from new bus stand from 7am to 8.30am on the examination day. The special buses will be stationed near the police outpost in the new bus stand. The special bus facility will be available for the return journey from the sub-centres/venues to the new bus stand after completion of the examination at 4.30pm. The administration has made arrangements to accommodate disabled candidates on the ground floor of the specified exam centres.
If any registered candidates with visual issues sought question booklets in a larger font, they will be provided such question booklets instead of booklets in normal font.
The administration has made elaborate security arrangements in all the eight sub-centres and only bona fide candidates will be allowed to enter the centres. Mobile phones, paper, electronic equipment, programmable devices, pen drives, smartwatches, camera, Bluetooth devices and any other communication devices will not be permitted inside the exam centres. Any infringement of the instructions will entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.
The candidates are also advised not to bring any valuables to the examination hall.
