New Delhi: Television advertising grew 11 percentage points in July and August this year compared to the same duration in the previous year, according to data released by Adex India, a division of TAM Media Research.
Overall advertising volume witnessed a growth of 10 per cent in July-August 2020 over the same months in 2019.
TV advertising also registered more than 1800 new advertisers in over 20 new categories during the period compared to last year, the report said.
Top 10 advertisers accounted for 50 per cent of TV advertising during July-August 2020 with Hindustan Unilever emerging as the biggest advertiser accounting for 22 per cent of total TV advertising. It was followed by Reckitt Benckiser and Proctor and Gamble.
Colgate Palmolive, ITC, Godrej Consumer Products, Cadburys India, Wipro, Facebook India and Amazon were other advertisers in the top 10 list.
Piccadilly Agro Industries, International Cricket Council, Airtel Payments Bank, International Advertising Association and Muthoot Fincorp were the top five new advertisers out of the 1800 new ones on TV.

The top ten categories which advertised on the medium during this period were – personal care brands accounting for 21 per cent of overall TV advertising followed by food and beverages which constituted 18 per cent of overall TV advertising. This was followed by services (13 per cent), personal healthcare (9 per cent) and hair care products (7 per cent).
Categories like household products, laundry, education, auto and banking/finance/investment followed.
