New Delhi: PepsiCo India has partnered with the government backed Common Service Centres (CSC) to list its products on the CSC’s Grameen eStore platform, the beverages and snacks maker said on Wednesday.
PepsiCo said its snacking brands Lay’s, Kurkure and Uncle Chipps will be listed on the CSC Grameen eStore and made available in the hinterlands through aspirational Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).
The partnership will enable last mile doorstep delivery in rural India and encourage e-entrepreneurship, PepsiCo India said in a statement.
A recent report by Nielsen forecasted rural markets to grow twice the rate of urban, riding on higher farm incomes, government spending, minimal retail disruption during the lockdown and migrant workers returning to their hometowns. The trend is a reversal from the past two years when subdued demand in rural markets had negatively impacted the entire fast moving consumer goods market.
