BENGALURU: In the third such incident reported in the vicinity of MG Road and Brigade Road this month, a 57-year-old newspaper vendor en route to work was attacked by armed men and robbed of his mobile and cash at Shoolay Junction around 4am on Thursday.
Two bike-borne robbers hit Parthasarathy Ramesh, a resident of Ashoknagar, on the forehead with a knife after snatching his phone. “Ramesh was rushed to hospital and treated as an outpatient. We will collect CCTV footage from nearby areas and trace the suspects,” a police officer said.
According to police, Ramesh is the second person to be mugged in the central business district in less than a week. Tamiya Paul, a 22-year-old private firm employee, was robbed by two men on July 11 outside Chaitanya Hotel. Police said Paul was on a walk around 9.20pm when the two miscreants astride a bike snatched her cellphone before fleeing.
In another case reported at Cubbon Park police station around 11.30pm on July 1, Uday Singh, a businessman, had parked his Audi near an ice-cream parlour on MG Road when two machete-wielding miscreants snatched his mobile and ran away.
